RUSS 206 Introduction to Russian Literature (4) June 23–July 18. Survey of 20th-century Russian literature in English translation, including prerevolutionary, Soviet, post-Soviet, and émigré authors. Examines a sampling of poetry and prose works by Bulgakov, Platonov, Nabakov, and Solzhenitsyn.
RUSS 399 Classic Russian Film (4) June 16–20. Explores the films of major Russian and Soviet directors, including Eisenstein, Tarkovsky, and Sokurov. Films are subtitled. Requirements include short readings and a final paper.
