UO Summer Session

Oregon Institute of Marine Biology (OIMB)

Since 1924, UO students have traveled to the Southern Oregon coast for summer session classes in marine biology. In 1931, the university opened OIMB in Charleston, a quaint coastal town with access to the ocean, just two-and-a-half hours from the main campus in Eugene.

Courses are offered during the first eight weeks of summer term. There are also several two-week and weekend workshops. Courses are open to qualified students from all institutions as well as continuing education students. Courses meet for at least seven hours a day and are designed for upper-division biology majors, environmental studies/science majors, and graduate students in these disciplines.
